Terms of use & Privacy policy

Welcome to the Tahammul platform. This document outlines the terms and conditions governing the use of our platform. By accessing or using our platform, you agree to comply with and be bound by these terms and conditions. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you must not use the platform.

  1. General Terms

    1. Acceptance of Terms: By accessing and using the Tahammul platform, you agree to abide by these Terms and Conditions, as well as any applicable laws and regulations.
    2. Modification of Terms: Tahammul reserves the right to modify these terms at any time. Any changes will be effective immediately upon posting on the platform. Your continued use of the platform signifies your acceptance of any such changes.
    3. Eligibility: Use of the platform is limited to individuals who are at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into these terms.
  2. User Registration and Accounts

    1. Minimal Mandatory Information: To ensure anonymity and data protection, we limit the collection of personally identifiable information (PII) to the first and last name, email, phone number, and company name for registration purposes. This information is essential for verifying and authorizing access to the platform.
    2. Email Verification: After completing the registration form, users must verify their email address by clicking on a verification link sent to their provided email. This step enhances security and ensures the authenticity of user accounts.
    3. Explicit Consent for Data Processing: Users must provide explicit consent for the processing of their data in compliance with GDPR regulations. Consent is obtained through clear messages and links to the privacy policy and these terms and conditions.
    4. Auto-generated Passwords: Upon approval by the admin, users will receive an auto-generated password via email. This password must be changed after the first login to ensure personalized security settings.
    5. Account Deletion: Users can delete their accounts at any time. Upon deletion, all user data will be permanently removed from our database, supporting the GDPR's right to be forgotten.
    6. Data Deletion for Declined Requests: If a user's registration request is declined, their information will be automatically removed from the admin's list, and all related data will be cleared from the platform.
  3. Use of the Platform

    1. Public Access to Data: Certain non-sensitive data on the Tahammul platform is available for public access without registration. This data can be viewed by any user but remains the property of Coin For Change (CFC) in partnership with Mercy Corps.
    2. Use of Public Data: Publicly accessible data can be used for informational purposes only. Users may not copy, distribute, or use the data for commercial purposes without prior written consent from CFC and Mercy Corps.
    3. Project Creation and Information Visibility: Administrators can mark certain project information as hidden from public view. Only approved and verified users can access these restricted sections.
    4. Tiered Access to Project Information: Unauthorized users can view limited information about projects. Sensitive data is accessible only to vetted individuals who have completed the registration and vetting process.
    5. Administrative Review of Access Requests: Admins will review each access request to ensure that only qualified and authorized users can view restricted content.
  4. Data Protection and Privacy

    1. Compliance with GDPR: We adhere to GDPR regulations to protect user data and maintain privacy. This includes obtaining explicit consent, ensuring data minimization, and providing users with the right to access, correct, and delete their data.
    2. Data Encryption: Sensitive data stored in our database is encrypted. Data transmitted between the application server and the database is encrypted using SSL/TLS.
    3. Regular Security Audits: We conduct ongoing security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration testing to identify and address any weaknesses.
    4. Authentication and Authorization: User passwords are securely hashed using strong cryptographic algorithms. Role-based access control (RBAC) restricts access to specific routes based on user roles.
    5. Secure Communication: All communication between the client and server is encrypted using HTTPS. Token-based authentication using JSON Web Tokens (JWT) is employed for secure user sessions.
    6. Data Breach Response Plan: In the event of a data breach, we will promptly notify relevant authorities and affected individuals, take corrective measures, and assess the extent of the breach.
  5. User Responsibilities

    1. Accurate Information: Registered users must provide accurate and up-to-date information during registration and while using the platform.
    2. Security of Login Information: Registered users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their login information. Any unauthorized use of a user’s account must be reported to Tahammul immediately.
    3. Compliance with Laws: All users must comply with all applicable laws and regulations when using the platform.
  6. Intellectual Property

    1. Ownership of Data: All data available on the platform, whether publicly accessible or restricted, is owned by Coin For Change (CFC) in partnership with Mercy Corps. Unauthorized use of this data is prohibited.
    2. Restrictions on Use: Users may not reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works from, or otherwise exploit any data or content from the platform without prior written permission from CFC and Mercy Corps.
  7. Limitation of Liability

    1. No Warranty: The platform is provided on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis. Tahammul makes no warranties, express or implied, regarding the platform's operation or the information, content, or materials included.
    2. Limitation of Damages: To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tahammul shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with the use of the platform.
  8. Termination

    1. Termination by User: Registered users may terminate their account at any time by following the account deletion process.
    2. Termination by Tahammul: Tahammul reserves the right to suspend or terminate a user’s access to the platform at its sole discretion, without prior notice, for any reason, including a breach of these terms.
